Hello. I'm Jim Applegate.

I'm a full-stack web developer in Broomfield, Colorado. Currently, I'm focused on building web-based open innovation projects at World That Works.

A Little About Me

I've been a web developer for 20+ years, and I love the constant challenge of learning new tools, techniques and technologies. I've had the opportunity to grow along with the web, learning a broad range of technologies up and down the stack.

As someone who has dealt with plenty of big monolithic CMSs and their infrastructure needs, I'm especially excited about the JAMStack as an architecture. I hope and expect that these modern tools and techniques will define my career going forward.

Web development is more specialized now, and that's okay. I can do front-end or full-stack development or anything between. It's all about solving problems, and that's what I love to do.

Some Things I've Built

Quiptionary

Quiptionary

A full-stack system for the Quiptionary website (defining what we really mean). This project features an API-driven admin (CRUD) and public-facing search website, all built with React, Node and MySQL. The public site is being converted to Gatsby in preparation for future development.

Portfolio Website

Yes, this very website! As an educational exercise, I decided to rebuild my portfolio website in Gatsby and React. The previous version of this website is built in Jekyll with some React components and is also viewable on Github.
